What is this meeting about?
We look for candidates who enthusiastically join us and remain successful. But unfortunately, practice is sometimes different: new employees are disappointed or leave early.
Candidate expectations play a big role in that disappointment. Do candidates at your organization know what they are getting into? How transparent are you as an employer or are you mainly busy 'selling' your organization well? And do you take into account the wishes and needs of your candidates?
Rijkswaterstaat has started a project to better manage candidate expectations and prevent mismatches. They are tackling this in a different way that you don't see much of in the Netherlands yet. Not only from the candidate's point of view but also from their own.
For example, they include candidates' expectations upfront in the interview process and give candidates a chance to get to know the organization from the inside before they say yes. With the honest story back and forth, they take candidates seriously and trust is built.
Sjoerd Burger & Joseph Otto, Recruitment RWS, are happy to share the experiences of RWS with you. But are also curious how others deal with this.
