Waar gaat deze meeting over?

Struggling to turn HR data into clear insights—working with multiple Excel files and Power Query outputs, but no easy way to visualize or share results?

Why attend?
Having clean data is only part of the solution. Without a clear dashboard, insights remain hidden and reporting stays time-consuming and inconsistent. This session shows how to turn structured Excel and Power Query data into meaningful dashboards that support faster, better decision-making.

What & how?
In this practical session, you’ll learn how to build effective dashboards in Excel using data prepared via Power Query. You’ll work with structured datasets to create clear visualizations, define key metrics, and design a dashboard that is easy to update and reuse—through hands-on examples you can apply immediately.

Key take-aways:

The session explored how Reward professionals can turn structured data into practical, decision-oriented dashboards. The central message was to begin with the business question and build the data, calculations, and visualization around the decision that needs to be made.

  • Start with the question, not the visual. Define the Reward decision first, then determine the relevant metrics, analytical cuts, and potential actions.
  • Build strong foundations before visualization. Reliable data, relationships, definitions, and reusable measures are essential. A polished dashboard cannot compensate for an unreliable underlying model.
  • Validate before sharing. A live discrepancy between a calculated FTE measure and the source data demonstrated why plausible-looking results should always be reconciled with the underlying data.
  • Keep dashboards focused and actionable. Use charts for patterns, tables for detail, meaningful colours, intuitive filters, and ideally one primary question per page.
  • Combine automation with human quality control. Refreshable dashboards and AI can make analysis more efficient, but neither replaces validation and professional judgment. The discussion also highlighted interest in future practical applications of Excel dashboards and Copilot.
