Diversity, Equity & Inclusion is an important topic and is getting a lot of attention. But what does it really mean in practice, and how can you translate it to mobility and rewards? How can you be(come) more aware of what DE&I really means and what (first) steps can you take in your mobility program to include its principles?

- Diverse leadership is critical to today’s business success and mobility is a key element of creating diverse talent pipelines
- Your employees need to feel represented by the mobility policies that you have in place, and it is essential that assignees feel physical and psychological safety;
- Avoid DE&I becoming a box-ticking or window-dressing exercise. Representation and leadership support is key in this area – forced representation doesn’t work. Drafting inclusive policies and having clarity of purpose can help build support;
- Take the opportunity to review your policies by e.g. looking at the wording of definitions and looking into the option of more flexibility with certain allowances to open this up to as many people as possible;
- Work closely with your internal DE&I teams and try to build strong internal networks.
